A mechanical device for stacking "green" nuclear pellets in bins for sintering.
The pellet loader is a unique device that takes the part stream from a sintering press, and gently stacks it into a sintering boat. The pellets are first collected end-to-end on a thin conveyor. Once a full row is collected, the row is rolled onto a grooved tray. The tray indexes to expose a new row, and the process repeats.
When the tray is full, the entire layer is picked up with a high-flow vacuum gripper, and placed in the sintering boat.
