| Crux Engineering is not just any automation company. We are unique in our approach to the task, our background and our use of statistical techniques. Some of the strengths which set us apart are shown below:
Real-World Automation Experience
Many automation professionals have only worked automation from the provider side. At Crux, we have a number of individuals who have extensive experience as automation end-users, launching products and running factories. This additional perspective is important in the development of true world-class systems, with consistent cycle times, low downtime and superior output quality. At Crux, we know what it takes to achieve world class performance, even as a system ages, and we apply that to each and every system we develop.
State-fo-the-Art CAD
Crux Engineering is built around 3D CAD. All of our systems are fully modeled -- fasteners, fittings, electrical components...even washers. In our view, engineering is about planning, and successful systems are built on thorough plans. Using 3D CAD to fully plan a system may seem tedious and costly, but the end result is fewer mistakes, shorter construction times, and less development time. A well-planned system generally works right -- right out of the box.
Pre-Engineering Solutions
Our modular design methodolgy allows us to make the most of pre-engineered solutions. Though we have the ability and capacity to "invent" new mechanisms and devices to automate a process, we also recognize that this is not the most value-added approach to the problem. Using pre-engineered solutions leverages the development hours of past projects and our vendors -- hours that could not be cost-effectively expended on any one project. By using pre-engineered solutions, we can provide high-quality systems with excellent reliability, while still optimizing the system for installed value.
Process Optimization Services
An outgrowth of our product develpment services is an extensive capability in statistical engineering techniques. We use Design of Experiments and Capability Analysis to evaluate designs against specific performance criteria. We have recently extended this capability to include the evaluation and characterization of processes and their output, allowing us to deliver fully characterized processes, not just equipment.
Extensive CAD Library
We have over 45 gigabytes of system and component models. These models can be quickly dropped into a model to create a new system. Many of these models can be used with little or no modification. This ability to assembly a system model from pre-defined elements greatly accelerates the design process. Aside from improving engineering efficiencies, this also reduces time in the development process, allowing systems to be deployed more rapidly.
